Ok, just imagine a parent asking you that, in an accusatory way... Razz

Well that's not what I meant by it, but I guess you could take it that way...

There is a topic in here asking if you have ever cried over a character, and I thought it would make sense to have another one where we can list the extent to which some of our characters have been made to go...

Come on, spill!

Ok...

First up...

Tsoren
I attacked him with a river. He nearly drowned.
He was then immediatly attacked by a shapeshifter - in the form of a bear. He broke his wing... several times.
Then it turned out to be midday, and the light burned his eyes - he's nocturnal you see.
And that is all in the space of about half an hour.
Later on I intend on him (and I am only saying this because I have got coffee) falling down a cliff, being poisoned, betrayed, attempted murder and some other stuff too.
Oh. And everyone hates him.

I'll let someone else carry on before I move onto over characters...

Ramzil

She was cast out, along with the rest of her race, into the snow with nowhere to go. She then had to watch as the rest of her race slowly died off, and she was left alone, the last of her kind, alone with her own unborn child.
She is then going to go through a really rough childbirth, and eventually die really painfully.

Was forced to kill his best friend. Tortured. Arrested. Rescued only to have to kill his rescuer.

Evie

One of the best doctors/researchers of her time. The rest of the population is getting sick... and dying. She doesn't do any good. No one believes her and her friends. So she must watch as her closest friends, neighbors, and eventually husband die of something she couldn't cure. Then she is the last person left on Earth.

Kipperlin

(Into the scary mind of Hawkins...) Attacked by leeches. (In this story, they're six pound beasts that can barely keep themselves afloat. 'Cause they're so fat.) Had his mind taken over by an evil poofy dragon panda thing. Was told by the same poofy panda to attack his sister. Nearly drowned. (But in my defense it was a running thing for everyone to nearly drown; it was much more amusing than it sounded. You'd have to read it.) Was told his brother was in cahoots with the poofy panda; so he killed him, but he actually wasn't. (Later it turned out the poofy panda killed him, so there wasn't that much of a guilt trip. XD) And then in then in the end, shot. Not fatally, it was an accident. *pokes Troy*

Talmony

I made her boyfriend kill her father/best friend, I didn't let her know until she was 4 months pregnant with her boyfriend's child at which point (just to make her feel a little better) she finally stopped feeling guilty that the baby might not have been his. I made her find her grand dad dead in his bed and no it wasn't old age. Oh and there was the depression... yeah she got pretty sad after she almost died after the car crash and her unborn baby did die. Oh and how could I forget!? I meant to mention that the reason the baby might not have been her boyfriend's, she was raped. Hmm me thinks that's it... oh no, no! Of course their was the eternal search for her mummy which ends with her mum not being able to remember anything longer than a year earlier.

Gosh I'm so mean... that poor girl

Yeah that's basically what's been happening to me for the last week. I just run out of things to do.

Writers are /supposed/ to be at least a little sadistic...right?...

Or, if not, at least able to stand to make your characters feel pain at least /once/. Cuz otherwise it's just not a good story.
