Crazy.
Mental.
Absolutely idiotic.
You want to know the windchill for today in my town?
-60 degrees Farenheit.
NEGATIVE SIXTY DEGREES!
The temperature alone at the given time (7:16AM) is -13 degrees, and it's going to get to -15. The HIGH today is 0 degrees.
The news says, "remember that layers are more effective than just one bulky or big coat. Wool is best to wear because it retains heat even when wet, and mittens are better than gloves. You should not go outside for more than 3 and a half minutes if you must go outside at all."
That's right. 3 and a half minutes. And that's with somebody with you.
Now
Can you even grasp the thought that a school (after 200 school district cancellations) remains open?
Can you imagine THAT school is MY school?
Now, for that 3 and a half minute rule
Everyday, I wait outside in the cold at least (AT LEAST) 5 or 6 minutes because my bus driver, as much as she's a good person, is a very not punctual person. My clothes are so frozen I can't move, and John P. (michelle knows who this is) once poured water on his jeans, stood outside for about 7 minutes (long enough for them to freeze) and broke, yeah broke, off a piece of his jeans.
Jeans are NOT supposed to break.
Mr. Superintendent - You're so stupid. I bet you are so proud, in your warm house and warm bed, that you made the 'decision' to send your kids to school so that they can get an 'education' and be 'happy'. And all the happiness and education that those kids will get today will be an award - An award for NOT DYING! Do you realize, Mr. Superintendent - that even though it's dandy to get payed, you have forgotten about the well-being of your students? Do you realize, Mr. Superintendent, that you have single-handedly destroyed all my, and hundreds of other students' respect for the school district? DO YOU REALIZE THAT EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN YOUR GLORIOUS SCHOOL COULD HAVE DIED TODAY?
Well, then.
Now you do.
You stupid idiot. _________________ ~Shaye

Ouch.
That is far too cold to be allowed to go to school, I agree with you there. And I sympathise with you on your cause.
My school in England was once the only school in Wiltshire to be open once when we had a rare, decent snowfall.
But yeah, if it was that cold I'd have just not gone. I wouldn't have risked myself in such cold temps to go to school... _________________ It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.

Yeah my mom didn't let me go.
But it's still stupid and rediculous. I had to walk out there for like ten seconds to get my dog inside and it was SOO cold.
Then, I went outside for about 2 minutes to try to get my dog inside because he's crazy, and I split my lip.
And it hurts. _________________ ~Shaye

Well, up here in Vermont, it's in the negatives during summer, so we got used to it fast...XD Anyway, I think in America, or at least where I went to school, the head of transportation dictates whether you have school or not, because they decide whether to run the buses. So they're worrying about the road conditions, not how cold their students are. And besides, you're in high school, right? You don't have to worry about recess...I used to have teachers in elementary school that would make us go outside in -10 degree weather during recess and made us run around the school if we complained we were cold...as long as it wasn't raining, we were outside. *shiver* _________________

Actually, Shaye, the windchill was only -25-ish. Except where Hannah L lives. But where she lives, school was closed.
But John P... is he the one in our gym class, or Dahl's? There are just too many Johns... _________________ ~Michelle The Bee
