So everyone's just been talking about music you listen to, and nobody has said anything about music you sing or play!!!
As for me, I'm in the advanced women's choir at my school (which means that you have to try out for it) and I love it muchly. I've also been playing the piano for......*thinks really hard, hurts brain*.......... 8 years. I think...

*deep breath*
Well, I'm a music freak and hence I'm multi-instrumental. I started on recorder, but that's really not much. In 5th grade I started playing the alto sax, I switched to tenor when I could hold it in 8th grade. Sometime between 4th and 7th grade I started playing piano. Recently I've started learning guitar, drums, trumpet, and blues harp. I happily reside in the marching band for half the year and a concert band the other half of the year on my tenor sax. I play for the community band (it's really quite professional, we play symphonies and some of the harder band songs) all year, I used to play tenor, but at least for this concert I'm playing alto and soloing on one song. I'm thinking of become a music major, can you tell?
Something that Nakara did not talk about though is genres.
On saxophone I play whatever my bands lay in front of me. For marching band it's jazz, for the concert band it's high school band songs, and for my professional band I tend to play classical, but sometimes we play marches, and once or twice we played big band. When I play on my own (which is a bit) I play jazz, mainly big band and bop.
On my precious piano I span many genres, sometimes I play your traditional music written for beginning piano players, often it's classical music like Beethoven and Rachmaninov, most of my piano songs is actually rock. I'm not talking about Coldplay soft quiet romantic rock. I'm talking about loud, in-your-face, angry rock. Like the Dresden Dolls. On that note, I recently started a rock duo. I play piano and my partner plays Adobe Audition (the program we use to record). Actually we haven't gotten far enough for more instruments than the piano, but as the main music writer I hear piano and drums.
On trumpet I play movie theme songs and Beatles tunes as I'm still learning and I'm really bad at it. Drums it's random trying to create a nice drum part for a song or two. For guitar it's largely acoustical rock like the Eagles. Blues harp is blues obviously, but sometimes it's Bob Dylan, that is assuming of course what I play is recognizable.
Man, I can go on forever. _________________ Remember, a velociraptor can run at 10 m/s (indoors) and it knows no fear. |
