It had begun to get out of control; it was taking over the forum.

I knew that the only way i could stop it... The only way i could find the real culprits, was to create a thread...

Surely, one of them was likely to slip up soon... They would let their true intentions be heard... They would drop the disguise and show their face.

It was only a matter of time, and i would be waiting.

(this is supposed to be third person, right?)

I laughed; I couldn't help it. Noir wasn't my style, and how could I compete with the likes of Grey Dawn?

Unless, of course...there was no Grey Dawn to compete with...

(Well, I tried. xD You should have made this an RP, Figment, that would have been fun!)

Suddenly it hit me like a .44 to the shoulder. Hawkins had been following me around, she had stumbled upon my idea of a noir RP and stolen it. I loaded my .44 and took a shot of whiskey.

I found it odd, and confusing that she was mistaking my investigation for an RP...

Perhaps this was a tactic, to throw me off the trail...

I sat and waited, and hoped that the cigarette smoke would not hide the clues from me when they presented themselves... Perhaps i would have to do some digging...

Hearing a click behind me, I turned around to see Grey Dawn standing there, holding a .44 and taking a swig of whiskey.

Something told me that he wasn't just holding that .44 because it looked good. I knew I had to get out of there, and fast.

Having a reputation for being a bit of a 'femme fatal' I knew that this thread was right up my street.
I threw my cigarette on to the ground, and stamped it out. I knew this case wasn't going to be easy.

That Grey Dawn had been following me around like fleas on a dog, and I didn't like it, not one bit.

As for my childhood friend, Hawkins. Well, those days are over, and it's every man for himself out here.

I saw Hawkins run, sprinting down the hall. I fired shots in a barrage of metal. Chunks blew out of the wall as if ripped by some invisible force.

I heard the gunshots, the sound reverberated around me, as though the acoustics of the hallway were designed for just such a purpose...

I would have gone to help... Perhaps my comrade was in trouble... But i saw the woman, her collar pulled up and her hat pulled down, in an effort to hide her face... I saw those blood red lips, and connected them to a long lost memory...

This was the woman, she was behind it all, i just knew it...

And if i didn't catch her now, i might lose the trail forever.

I ran down the hall hoping to catch up with Hawkins before she got away, but as I rounded the corner a bullet ripped through my shoulder. The pain rendered me paralysed. I barely caught a glimpse of her golden hair flowing behind her like angels before she disappeared. This was not the work of Hawkins. Maybe we were all pawns in a giant game of chess.

The sound of bullets hit my ears so hard, it was almost like they'd been fired at me.
I spun around to try and catch a glimpse of the intruder. Nothing.
I heard a scream of pain down the hall, and a thud as something hit the ground.
I followed the noise like a moth to a light. There, laying in a pool of crimson blood, I saw Grey Dawn, still as stone.

Pain started clouding my vision like fog. Each breathe was a little shallower than the last. I would not last long with out help. I rotated my body down and pushed myself up off the ground. The bullet rubbed against my heart and I collapsed against the wall.

The footsteps echoing behind me faltered to a stop as one final footstep--was it a gunshot?--rang out.

I whirled around, and there was a woman standing over Grey Dawn, holding his trademark .44.

Fearing I could be next, I dropped all hope of solving this crime and sprinted off.

"Investigators," I told myself as I heard the woman cock her gun once more, "aren't so helpful when they're dead."

If only my childhood friend, butterflii, was here, I thought. Then she could help Grey Dawn while I distract this woman...

(Just wanted to let you know...my hair's about an inch long all over.)

My last breath escaped my lungs squeezing through my closing mouth like the last gust of wintry wind through a door.

I followed the woman, her blood red high heels; the same colour as her lips, clicking on the ground as she walked...

I had thought she had seen me... Surely she had looked my way before turning???

But i followed her none the less... Down the dark and dingy streets, through the foreboding alleyway...

I felt a cold gust... And a shiver ran up my spine as though someone was pacing over my grave... I couldn't shake the feeling that The Grey Dawn was in trouble, and it was all my fault for not rushing to his aid!

With the shiver i had turned to look behind me... I heard silence now... The absence of blood red heels... I looked back up the alleyway, but sure enough she was gone...

Then i felt pressure on the back of my neck, and the cold, round lips of a gun... a .44 if i wasn't mistaken... How ironic that i should die at the hands of my comrade's weapon of choice...

My lungs collapsed I knew I had minutes to live without help. A black cloud started eating away at my vision.
(How long can I keep myself alive without help? Heeeee.)
