The Grey Dawn

So has anyone seen Pan's Labyrinth, I really liked it. I don't know what to say about it without ruining the plot though. The visuals were amazing.

Just because I wanted to, I included the Spanish title in the post topic.

But yeah, this is a very good film, but certainly unorthadox.

I will say this, I did not trust that Faun for one instant... I always thought he was up to something... sinister.

However the true question is, is the faun even real? Obviously her father, the doctor, Mercedes, they were all real, but was the magic just part of Ofilia's imagination or was it real? When her father finally found her at the end, you couldn't see the faun when it switched to his perspective, her mother didn't seem to notice the mandrake root's screaming, but then again how did Ofilia get through the labyrinth and why did her mother go into labour when the mandrake started burning? Also I really don't know what to think of the ending; was it happy or sad? Either way I found the movie deeply moving and stunning, and that lullaby still haunts me.

I think it was real.
The director (forget his name) said that in his mind it was real, but open to interpretation. I'd say it is real to all of those who accept it to be real. The Captain couldn't see the Faun because he did not believe, and the same for Ofelia's mother with the mandrake.

It was all real for Ofelia.

Guillermo del Toro was the director. That's the one thing I really love about the film, it's open to interpretation.

It is set during the fascist regime in Spain.

Ofelia (a 11 year old girl) and her pregnent mother move into the country to live with Ofelia's stepfather - the Captain (a fascist leader).
Ofelia meets a Faun who tells Ofelia she is the long lost princess of an immortal realm and she must pass three challenging and dangerous tasks to prove this.

It sounds like a wonderful family movie doesn't it? Well it's not. That R rating is there for a reason. However the movie is amazing, if you are old enough to understand it. I highly recommend it.

OH I LOVED PAN'S LABYRINTH! The only sucky part was that it was in spanish. But the Pale Man or whatever was freaky. Seriously, it freaked me out.

And she was all magical and stuff and she was a princess and she had a moon-shaped birthmark. My sister has a freckle that's shaped like the Taj Mahal.

And I don't have a birthmark. Like... anywhere.

But yeah, great movie.

Yea, I have the advantage of watching Japanese movies and stuff, so subtitles don't bother me.

Hahaha. Do you watch Japanese Ping-Pong? I hear that's supposed to be 'da bomb'.

Anywho... Yeah, I've seen Japanese television, but I don't bother with subtitles. It's funny without knowing what they're saying. They chase chickens and stuff. I saw one episode of this show where they put the people's head in this ball-pit type thing without the balls, and put hamsters or something in there. I don't know what the point of it was (like how they won) but it was pretty funny.

Yeah. It was a Japanese game show. So what? You wanna fight about it?
