Mainly for us Aussies here, but for those of you who can vote, who will you be voting for and why?
If you cannot yet vote (like me... just a few months too young Evil or Very Mad

) then who would you vote for?

Personally, I would vote for Howard again, out of him and Kevin Rudd he seems the lesser of two evils (always the way with politics), and I personally agree with his new workplace laws, I mean come on, why should the power be placed with the employee and not the employer??? The new laws make sense!!!
And I agree with the argument that Rudd just just not look like a PM Very Happy

Anywho, over to you...

See the thing is... the other party is all about saying what is wrong with Howard's Government and policies...

But THEY DON'T HAVE ANY OF THEIR OWN!

Has anyone else noticed this?

I didn't think I was the only one with this!
Rudd critisises EVERYTHING the Howard government does (Okay, he is the opposition leader, that's what they do), but offers NO solution. Opposition leaders do oppose the current government (the hint is in the name Wink

), but they are meant to offer alternatives. Rudd does not do this!!!

And since they don't TELL US what their policies are... we could you know...vote them in, and then have them tell us that they are bringing in these other policies... terrible policies... At least with Howard, we kinda know what we're getting into...

And in the... what is it... How many years? i forget... They haven't learnt... so i figure that they mustn't want to be in... They seem to just enjoy pointing out the flaws in the other party... so what would they do if they got in? Cause they could hardly sit around making ads about how bad Howard is, if they were in power...

Well... they could... but the people... meaning us... would be pretty quick to get really angry at them and stuff... Razz

I'll revive this thread here to ask any Aussie's if they watched the Leadership debate on a couple of weeks ago.
Did anyone notice how The Worm was clearly rigged?
Example:
*Worm neutral*
Presenter: So, Mr. Rudd, what is your view on (subject matter)
*Worm goes up*
Rudd speaks

Wow, these guys are good. They know exactly what Rudd will say, before he says it, and like it too!
Or the producers just picked a load of people who will vote labor no matter what...

We have a lot of Presidential voting campaigns going on in the US right now.

It's all over myspace. Basically it's:

Hillary Clinton - Democrat
Barack Obama - Democrat
Mitt Romney - Republican
Ron Paul - Republican
Ralph Nader (again) - Independent

and umm...

Stephen Colbert - Both, and only in South Carolina.

Can we talk about these too?

Because I remember Bush's campaign. It consisted of this:

John Kerry wants high gas prices.
John Kerry is a flip-flopper. (actual words)
John Kerry doesn't want to "fight terrorism"
George Bush is good!

And I think that we can get so much more out of our political campaigns if we could discuss it with other people (intelligently), otherwise we might fall into a "trap" of sorts by voting/supporting the wrong candidate merely by his title and what he doesn't do. Not what he will do.

OHO! All of that above applies to women as well.

Ah, yes. I heard that Colbert was running for President, and doing surprisingly well (though not going to get top spot). A bit of a Man of the Year style thing there.

Bush can't run for president again can he? he's only allowed two terms as President according to US law isn't he?

Yeah, thank god.

I think he needs to start a different war for every term he serves.

I think (forgive me if I'm wrong) that Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the only president to serve 3 terms, and then the constitution was changed so that presidents were limited to 2 terms.

I, personally, think that we need another FDR. He really pulled our country through a rough time. Understatement. INCREDIBLY rough time. The war on terror has taken a huge toll on the world and we need someone to fix it. Make it right. We can't turn back the clocks, but we could find a way to start over, right?

Well, I dunno. Bush is the biggest screw-up, like, ever. But I think that since he started this war, /he/ knows how he wants to finish it. I mean imagine this...what if he's got an ace in the hole that we don't know about, and won't know about, because after his term is over nobody pays attention to a word he says?

Either the world will plunge into devastation (and Bush will forever be known as the Almost Antichrist xD) or something good will happen. I can't run; I'm not 35 and I'm a girl. Nobody listens to a girl. That's the problem here...

Aussie talk here, but when Kevin Rudd was on Rove last weekend; I realised that I quite like the guy. Still don't want him as PM, but he is a nice guy. I'm no longer ashamed that he is also a Queenslander Razz

Oh, and he was at my (former) school on thursday, I was at graduation so I didn't see him; but to those who watch Ten News, then you would have seen him talking about something with my (former) school's emblem behind him. My sister got to high five him too.

I like Barack Obama.

Hilary is a little weird about education.

But Barack seems really good about the really important issues.

No matter what, I just DON'T want a republican to win.

I know, I know - Divided we fail, but GOD! They haven't really done ANYTHING to help us, have they?

Geez. I just want a GOOD PRESIDENT that doesn't make the USA look like a power-hungry, illiterate nation.

And to make this post at least partially serious, the Australian elections are today. Rudd or Howard. Who will it be?
(Or are we in for a surprise and the Greenies get in? Or Family First? Or some other minor party like the Conservatives?)
