Well since this doesn't really belong anywhere else... I wrote this essay when I was slightly sleep deprived, and I seem to remember something going on to make it annoying, but hey I enjoyed it.

A Change in Powers

For thousands of years man has been experimenting with forms of government. Man has tried everything from democracy to totalitarian state, but has not, to this day, truly settled with a form of government. On this date, the 31st of January 2008, the United States has been a practitioner of representative democracy for just over three centuries. This needs to change. I call for a revival of a monarchy to govern the people of the United States of America.
It is a fact that many accept. The fact that the populace of the United States are lacking in education. Various laws have been passed to try and remedy this, such as the No Child Left Behind Act (a mistake on its own upon which I could easily write another paper upon). If we accept the fact that we are not any longer the brightest country, in fact we have television programs just to show how backwards we are in the ways of education, ask yourselves this: do we really want someone who does not even know how many years the term of a senator is (for those of you who do not know, it is six) to be able to judge who should be the next president? In a monarchy this would not be a problem. In a monarchy those who are less informed (and all other's who the monarch chooses to ignore) shall have no say. And as the monarch created the system, he will obviously not be lacking in his information about the government and every one who has a say (i.e. the monarch) will be intimately familiar with the process and issues.
Another related point to this is the dwindling numbers of those who are voting. Less and less people care enough to speak up and declare their views. Under a monarchy, they will not have to worry about saying what they wish to not say as they have no say in the first place. The heavy burden of expressing one's view will be lifted from them.
The biggest problem with our current system of democracy is that it is overly complicated and inefficient. Democracy has over 500 people doing a job that could easily be done by one person. The laws and procedures are so complicated that it is difficult for anyone to understand all of them. To pass one law can take months in a democracy. There are weeks of arguing and appending more unneeded provisions to the law. A monarchy has none of these problems. With one person running the entire government, there are no debates to slow the process down and append unnecessary provisions. Also the people no longer have to pay the salaries of over 500 people, and only pay the salary of one. The process that used to take months can now be down in less than a day.
In our representative democracy, those we elect are constantly worrying about getting reelected. They careful maneuver to do just enough work to keep their support, but not enough work to offend anybody. They do not do what needs to be done out of fear of the disapproval of some of their supporters. A monarch is not reelected, so a monarch would not worry about such trivial matters and could do what needs to be done without fear.
The system of representative democracy has no redeeming features and must be entirely scrapped and replaced with the tried and true system, used for centuries in Europe during some of the most prosperous times for countries, of a monarchy. Let inefficiency bother us no more. Let our economy grow. Let our country's power grow. Let us adopt the best system of government, a monarchy.

Ok, so I like the way your essay is written. I agree with some of your views on our current system but I find it difficult to agree with your solution to the problem.

Our form of government was designed to step away from England's form of government. I believe in our Consitution but I feel our government is losing sight of what our founding father's had in mind.

I would love to see some of your research that would support your argument as to why a Monarchy would work in a country that was founded on freedom of the people.

I will explain that in one word: satire. I'm a very sarcastic person and it has no entered my essays. I wasn't sure how obvious it was. And if it wasn't, it was still fun to write.

Actually my experience tells me that the Americans punch me in the face, unless they're smart enough to realize it's /satire/! Does no one else here notice it?

Well, I am an American too, and the only reason I don't want to punch GD in the face is because he is like the son I never had. And because I know deep down, he doesn't really want Monarchy.

I got an A in history. (YEAH I KNOW! Very Happy) Well, in sixth grade, and I'd have to say, even if it wasn't satire, that'd just make it more amusing. In a "XD what an idiot" kind of way. Laughing at you, instead of with you.

GD, it's pretty hard to WRITE something, and expect everyone to know it's sarcastic.

But I'd still punch you in the face.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift, those were both written under the same premise. Satire is a genre, Michelle, I can write that way.

I have a question: What if they choose to make a law that's immoral or unjust?

Uhh... We have a voting system in England...

And the monarchy does NOTHING in England. They're just a tradition. They sign stuff to make it official, but they aren't really considered that important.

If it's too immoral/injust, there is always the possibility of a monarch/dictator being overthown. I guess.... Very Happy

I think she was talking about... you know... why we made it in the first place. Democracy in America was, afterall, made when there was a full monarchy in England. We all know that it's a Constitutional Monarchy, meaning: Yes We Kept Our Queen and Stuff but The Prime Minister Does Most of the Important Stuff and the Queen Just Looks Pretty and Stuff and Sells Tabloids.

Hey! Not to mention she makes those Canadian coins look pretty. Can't forget that part, Shaye.
