Tomorrow afternoon we're letting Kelsie leave this world peacefully. She's had multiple health problems all her life ranging from closed spina bifida, urinary tract infections, and cardivascular and respitory problems. When she developed a tumour on her neck two years ago we chose not to do invasive procedures due to all her other health problems. We focused on quality of life. In the last few weeks she tries to play but finds it too painful and backs away after a few seconds and can barely get food in her mouth. She would have her 10th birthday on April 29th (only cat we know her exact day of birth).

She was the runt of the litter and was close to six weeks old before she learned to walk. When she first got her she hopped like a bunny (partially dragging her back legs behind her). She was a year old before she could jump on the counter. She is our miracle kitty and an example of a life well lived.

PS This picture was taken in December back when Kelsie still could run and play with the other cats etc. I do not want to take pictures now because I do not want to remember her in this state.

Please pray for our family tomorrow as we let her leave this world peacefully and painlessly. Clide and Dylan will be waiting for her. Dylan our Old English Sheepdog will likely give her ears a big wash when he sees her.

It's okay. At least she'll be in a happier place.

In the end, it's not how many years in your life, but how much life in your years.

And thanks for adopting her. You gave her a chance, even though it seemed like her fate had been decided before she was even born, and now she's had a loving home and family, and the best life any cat could ask for.

It's always hard to let an animal go. Especially one that has been with your family for so long.

It might not be entirely the same but we got a poodle when I was in seventh grade and she was just a baby. She kept having problems herself and only after a few weeks of having her we had to put her to sleep because of the problem with her colon.

It's really a mystery how we get attached to our pets so easily and so quickly and it's the most difficult thing in the world to let them go.

But as Shaye said she'll be in a much happier place and all her ailments will be gone.

I'm sorry for your loss. Sad
