OK, as you will all most likely know, we are half way through our Harry Potter month, and less than 6 days from the book release...
Well...
As we will all (those of us who read the books) be feeling a complete mixture of feelings... happiness that we know what happened, finally, sadness at the fact that it is the end of an epic adventure that we have all been part of... and maybe a little bit lost...
So, I want you to write the next Harry Potter! (Read all the details before you dismiss this completely!)
I don't want you to take the characters that exist in Harry Potter's world, or even any of the places... And it needn't be hundreds of pages long...
I want you to write an original story, but that has an epic element to it... Something that you think will captivate our hearts and minds, and perhaps soften the blow, and remove some of the sadness we will be experiencing at the sudden absence of the waiting for the next book that we have been doing over these past years...
Something that will captivate readers of Harry Potter, but stand alone as it's own story.
Ok, i'm going to set the lower limit to 10,000 words... The upper limit will be 60,000 words... That way it is a nice wide berth for you guys... And don't worry if you only write 5000 words.. in some cases, that might help you to win... it needs to be a clear and easy to read story... Pretend that this is the final copy that will be going in to print and being poured over by millions of hungry eyes... Make it as perfect as you can! It needs to captivate the reader from the very first word, it needs to make them read on!
I'm going to give you guys till the end of August!
So the competition will close on the 31st of December, at 11:59:59 pm, that gives you a month and a half!
Send your entries to figment_queen@yahoo.com.au (sorry Hawkins, but such big word counts will need to be in the form of an email, rather than a pm...)
The winner will receive a custom title, and a copy of the Figments book of poetry for free!
Ask any questions that you have here... and GOOD LUCK GUYS!
Figgums. _________________

Nope. It came from all those little people at the school she goes to...they can't say "Chocorua", so they say "Chicago". _________________

Just bumping this up so that you guys see it...
It seems that Hawkins is the only one who has acknowledged this thread...
And i know how sometimes you will realise that a competition is running a week before it finishes... And this is one that we really can't do all in a matter of minutes...
So... Yeah... _________________

I've read the thread, I'm just not sure it's something I can potentially do lol. _________________ ...:::Life is a balance of holding on and letting go:::...

So... what is the part that makes you feel that you cannot potentially do this?
Perhaps i can modify it?
It's all about you guys entering... so it needs to be something that you guys feel that you can do!
... But... At the same time it is meant to be a challenge... _________________

idk, it's just kinda... too open for me lol. I have no idea what to write about, there's so much, and everything I think of I'm not sure if it's really right for this contest or not. _________________ ...:::Life is a balance of holding on and letting go:::...

Diddo, it just seems such a vast topic.
Writing the next HP is kinda daunting anyway, but as we have no basis and can write anything up to 20,000 words long . . . . I feel lost. _________________ Spider, Spider, on the wall.

Well then... If i was to say... It has to involve some kind of magic, and an adventure... Perhaps that you need to create a mythical creature for it... Would that be better?
What are some guidelines that you would like to have? _________________

Aaaah, that makes me feel a bit better already. =]
Magic and adventure, i was planning on having anyway, but now that it's confirmed I feel a bit safer And creating a mythical creature makes it a lot better.
I don't know, to be honest, I think I just need to find some inspiration. And everything I think of, I keep remembering J.K has already done it in HP. She's covered every mythical creature anyone could ever think of, and more. So I think I just need ideas for myself, more than guidelines.
Thanks for the help Figgeroo _________________ Spider, Spider, on the wall.
