And there is no other character mentioned whose initials are R.A.B.
I doubt JKR will bring in such an important character in at the very end... _________________ It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.

I figured R.A.B. was just some old dwarfy guy. Like Slughorn. That's just the way he wrote, so...
AACK I base peoples personalities on how the write. _________________

Hmmm... Is that a character that she brought in without previous mention? Did she mention Slughorn in earlier books? _________________

As far as I can recall (and I recall a lot of stuff like this), then he was never mentioned before he was introduced in HBP. _________________ It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.

He wasn't. Though Sirius was mentioned in the first book. I think it went something like, "We got ter get back quick, I borrowed this from Sirius..." which was thirteen years earlier than when Sirius 'killed' Peter Pettigrew(sp?)... _________________

Yes... it was Sirius' motorbike... it was mentioned a couple of times...
Some other characters that were introduced before the book that they were properly featured in: (according to the Mugglenet book...)
Luna Lovegood is mentioned in GOF and becomes crucial in OOTP... (even though she is in Ginny's year, so has been around since COS)
Broderick Bode is murdered in OOTP but is mentioned in GOF.
Mrs. Figg is introduced in SS/PS 5 books before we find out that she is a squib!
Scabbers is featured in SS/PS and COS before we find out that he is Peter Pettigrew...
And others... but obviously not slughorn... Maybe he was given a passing mention somewhere... *shrugs* _________________

I'm not saying you are wrong pom pom... But i merely mean maybe she mentioned the old potions master... As that and nothing more... Maybe his name didn't come up, but a shadow of a mention of him may be in there somewhere... _________________

Hm...*racks mind*
Maybe Tom Riddle would have mentioned him in COS...OMG NO! TRIG! *runs into a wall* I WAS RID OF THAT IN MY FRESHMAN YEAR!
*shakes head* Um...he may have mentioned like, "that oaf, the potions master, he loved me..." something like that. Because he said "all the teachers loved him". Technically he mentioned Slughorn right there, but...it's not the SAME... _________________

No, Slughorn was never singled out, not even as 'that potions master' or anything of the like. I have pondered long and hard over this, and no. He was never mentioned.

I was always thinking, "how could he believe the whole, lightning shaped scar from a car crash story? I mean really? That could never happen!" then Mae was telling me about the time she went through a windsheild and showed me a tiny lightning shaped scar on the end of her nose. I was like, "COOL!" only it's just an indent, not all red and scabby like Harry's...you'd think it'd go away after a while... _________________

Yes, i have something!
When they are at Nick's Deathday Party in COS... Hermione says that Myrtle haunts the girls toilet on the first floor... and then when they find Mrs Norris petrified... and there is the water on the floor... It clearly says that Harry climbed up to the second floor... Now... Am i mistaken in thinking that the puddle there was from Myrtle's bathroom? I could be... I haven't read COS that much... It is my least favourite book... But i was sure that the reason that Mrs Norris was petrified was because of the puddle... That came from Myrtle's bathroom... So... Did the water go UP?!

You seem to have found a very rare specimen there Figment. A JKR Mistake. They are incredibly rare those are, you are very lucky to have found one so rare are they.
Indeed, Myrtle does haunt the second floor bathroom.
In fact, Lockhart gets it wrong too...
His office is on the second floor, but he tells everyone to go to his office upstairs when they find Mrs Norris petrified on the second floor. It would seem that JKR originaly had Myrtles bathroom on the second floor, changed it for some reason, and missed a few things referring it to being there. _________________ It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.

I thought it was 'masochist' or something like that.
I would rather just shoot something else, I can't handle pain very well. Well, I can, it's just that I don't want to go to the hospital to take care of it.
Regulus Black...that sounds right. Maybe...hm...maybe it's Remus Lupin, only he changed his name to 'Lupin' to hide it. Because of his werewolf-y nature. Lupin is 'Lupine' (which means dog-ish or something...) only without the 'E'. Get what I'm saying? Or maybe it's just a huge coincidence. THAT I FIGURED OUT ON MY OWN!
