Concerning the meaning of life: it's 42. Most/all sci-fi fans or comedy fans should know that. _________________ --Sameth--

The answer of life actually is 42, I had figured it out the other day...OH! I 'member it now. 7, the magic holy number, divides into it 6 times. 666 being the number of the devil. OMG I pwn. Don't that make sense?
And you can hate America all you want...but leave Vermont alone! We make cheese, we make maple syrup, and we have very awesome people who don't care if a hobo living in their truck plays with their cat. xD
That sounds like I'm playing with MY cat, not someone elses... _________________

The purpose of life is NOT to die, I repeate NOT to die. Then there is no point of us being here in the first place. The meaning of live was orignally for us to have fun, to help others and build happy communitys, to have children, bring them up well, teach them the right and wrongs then eventually we die, leaving our children to have children and hope they did a good job. But sadly now with all the murders, liars, thieves, rapists and other sick people out there life can no longer be the safe haven it should be and we are living in what is no better than hell. Of course there are good things, friends, familys, hobbies, games but now kids can't go outside after 7 because there are creepy sick minded people prowling the streets, you have to lock you car and home because of burglars and you never know if someones being honest.
We, my friends, are situated in hell. I don't believe all this crap about the world ending on a fixed date. It'll end when it ends but even when the world goes, I'm still gonna be here _________________ Spider, Spider, on the wall.

As an afterthought to whoever said something about the bible saying when the world will end:
The bible cannot 'predict the future', however, it can be used to tell us what has happened. I mean, we can't open it up, say "God says the world will end in 2062." But we CAN open it up and say "oh. It says here the twin towers will fall, and that will plunge the world into chaos."
Funny thing is, the bible speaks of an 'anti-Christ'--a man who everyone will think is Jesus returning to earth when it all falls apart. See, people think that George Bush is the anti-Christ. The thing is--the anti-Christ is supposed to talk about PEACE AND HARMONY, not be hell-bent on starting WWIII!
Truthfully, yes, I believe the world is in turmoil, but I don't think it's going to end soon. Jesus said he would return soon, but 2000 years is not soon. Not to God, at least.
Sorry if your not religious. _________________

My theory is quite perverse so stop reading now if you are easily offended.
Meaning of life= sex
Every person alive was concieved through sperm-egg fertilization, and most from sexual intercourse.
Most people that survive through childhood experience sexual activity through either masturbation or intercourse. (there are other, more perverse ways).
It makes sense... _________________ Q: You're on an airplane and you drop your wedding ring out the window. How many pancakes can you stack on top of the Empire State building?

Bleh! *barfs*
Just because I'm older than almost all of you, that's still...*shudder* I've never liked the thought of it.
I THINK (oh God. Here it comes.) that the meaning of life is cheese. Yes, cheese. Okay, but seriously, I think the meaning of life is for some unknown reason, but that reason is known only to God. And so what if we don't know? That's what makes life life. If we knew everything, life would be meaningless. We would spend our days trying to find a way to spend our days. (I'll just use the Hindenburg as an example, seeing as I'm strangly obsessed with it. I blame my 'disease'. The secret one. Oh, nevermind...) Okay, so we love the Hindenburg for now. So, now, we read books about it. We make our own theories on why it exploded. We memorize all the fun facts, like the weight, the fuel it used, the capacity, et cetera. If we knew everything, that wouldn't appeal to us. Nothing would appeal to our dull lives. We would be surrounded by knowledge, and have no one to share it with because they all know the same things. So maybe I'm wrong. I probably am. But I don't think life has a huge, hidden meaning. God put us here because he was lonely, I think. (hard to think of Him as LONELY, you know?) But there you have it, my outlook on life. Not exactly my philosophy, (it makes much less sense.) but you get the point.
I am on the 'the meaning of life' thread, right? If not, somebody move this...or delete it, whatever... _________________

Why can't people see the sun? One could stare at the sky for hours and insist upon looking at the rainclouds that may come or have already passed and choose to ignore the radiant blue that the sun has created for us to see.
But you must also realize that the sun makes the rainclouds visible for us to see, and when enough people look away from the raincloud and into the sun, the sun will be strong enough to push the raincloud away and out of sight forever.
What I'm trying to say is that life is beautiful. People insist upon focusing on the things that are ugly or dull in it. It is not going to do anything for the world if you stare at the ugly and ignore the beautiful, for then the beautiful can never influence the ugly or dull. You will never realize that it is the sun that makes the shadow and illuminates the raincloud if you never look into the sun and all it creates.
This world, this wonderful balance of sorrow and joy, this world is not a book that can be read, nor a speech that can be heard, it is a thing that must be felt. You can see the beauty around you, along with the ugly or dull, but you must feel it to appreciate it.
The meaning of life...the meaning of life is to live it. It doesn't matter if you live as a celebrity or a hermit, a buisnessman or a beggar, because no matter how people may try to deny it, they will affect the world. If you have ever seen a beggar, you feel that sorrowful pity mixed with sympathy and maybe even fright at how sorrowful something could be. You affect the world with every thing you do. You belong to the world and the world belongs to you. _________________ ~Shaye

You read fast, Shaye. And I agree, you can live as a hermit and still be totally happy without looking at the dull side of life. I mean, sure, I have bad days, my mailbox barely fits on my property, Duke never shuts his tiny trap, and a snake lives in my sofa. BUT! I live on a nice lake. I live near *coughcough* nice people. My car still works. My cat's still alive. I'm (amazingly) still alive. So what is there to be sad/mad/unbelievably ticked off at? Other than the stuff I already said, of course. _________________

Yeah I think Shaye's right. I mean, if we keep focusing on when the worlds going to end which nobody knoes for a fact, then we are going to waste our whole lives worrying about a day that finally comes and when it does come what have we got to show for it. Nothing 'casue we'll be dead.
We should focus on the lovely things which really matter. Friends, love, family, writing, fun, games, sport etc. etc.
I don't however, think that the meaning of life is sex. Because that basically means that we are here to reproduce, then are reproducees (the kiddies) reproduce. Then they reproduce. etc. etc.
But that can't be all. If all we are doing is living forever, We may as well not live at all. I think we live to have fun. Then reproduce so our kids have fun. etc. etc.
I think sex is a small part of it. _________________ Spider, Spider, on the wall.

With all the contradiction people have stated, I decided the meaning of life is fun, and maybe sex is part of it, a small part of it. _________________ Q: You're on an airplane and you drop your wedding ring out the window. How many pancakes can you stack on top of the Empire State building?
