Well, it's 2007 now, so unless I'm living in some strange dimension where I am the only survivor and everything else is just a figment of my imagination to stop myself thinking there's nothing to live for, then that is wrong.

In another dimension though, probably it did end.

That's an impressively huge necropost!

The next date for the end of the world is now 2012. This time, it's reckoned the apocalypse will be a result of a nuclear winter, caused by the former soviet union deciding it's tired of being marginally smaller than before and reforming, much to the delight of the Americans, who've been desperate to Nuke something for the best part of twentyfive years.

STAY TUNED!! They're going to get it right eventually. Or they'll be late. Or both. Tchaa, check out THOSE puns!

Yes, according to the Mayan religion, 2012 is D-day.

I think we're expecting some sort of large natural disaster, as well as some people that analyze the book of Revelations.

More info here.

What is scary, is that to date, the Mayans have gotten everything right with all of their astro-religion doobahlacky... so chances are, they are right here too... Sad

The meaning of life is in you. It has been fixed, it cannot be changed. You cannot deny that you live to live a life of happiness, joy and love. Everything will begin and end. The purpose of anything is what that entity gives itself.

2012...?

Ok then...

I'm going to put that on my calendar, lol.

I believe that the end of the world would probably have something to do with Global Warming and a massive flood.

My History teacher once said that whenever anywhere got overpopulated, a massive disease spread and kill 1000s of them (the Plague?), or a natural disaster (fire of London, anyone?), so if that happens whenver that happens...

Maybe the world is too overpopulated?

I say we go on a killing spree - start with the teachers!

Well, natural disaster is the most likely, I'd have to say. The Americans and Russians have never been on better terms (even though they trust each other less far than they can throw each other. Which isn't much, seeing as how they're countries).

We're something like 2000 years overdue for a "Supervolcano". Specifically the Yellowstone Park one, in the United States (I always KNEW America'd destroy the world Razz) Ten thousand times the size of the Mt. St. Helens disaster, it could spell global cloud cover, rain of ash, and all in all destruction. Nothing would survive more than a decade in those conditions. The cloud cover is expected to last fifty.

Then there's the tsunami it'd cause. An explosion as large as that could cause a wave 5 kilometres high to smash into europe and Western Asia. The boxing day tsunami that killed hundreds of people wasn't even 10 metres.

This eruption could, quite literally, happen tomorrow.

Then there's the possibility that the Earth's magnetic field is gradually changing. The rotation of the core of the Earth is slowing down, and the magnetic field it's generating is failing. GPS will fail entirely- without a magnetic North frame of reference, they have no way to guide, most importantly, aircraft. By no means does this mean they'll all career to the ground instantly - you may just end up in Madagascar after wanting to go to Kenya. Satellite navigation for cars will fail, and the Auroras Borealis and Aurora Australis will both spread to global proportions, as the radiation which the sun churns out will no longer be affected by the Earth's magnetic field, giving lethal doses of radiation to everyone.

In a hundred years, that'll all be over, though.

We didn't half pick a time to be born in, eh? Laughing

The supervolcano is in the USA, I thought it was in Indonesia, as that is by far the most unstable region on the planet at the moment, and the volcano was to be Anac Krakatau (little Krakatoa)...

And to add to those woes, the earths core may be about to cool, meaning we say goodbye altogether to our Magnetic field which = severe badness...

Or how bout something even more unpredictable.... Spontaneous Human Combustion anyone????

Okay, the earth's not going to end in 2012. People thought the world was going to end on 06.06.06 and they thought the world was going to end on june 6th 1666. Smart people...not really, oh well. The Mayans didn't ever "predict the end of the world" they never said "the world is ending on december 21, 2012, so..that sucks for all of you" they ended their astronomical based calenders on that day. It's really actually funny how people are so convinced that the world is going to end that very day that very year. People like to use the bible to justify it too, but that makes no sense because the bible says the only person who knows when it will happen is god, so, people should stop trying to do it, or it's never gonna happen. Now, the only reason that the Mayans stopped their calenders on that date is because there is a solstitial conjunction in that year. The Mayans predicted December 21 because it's the normal winter solstice but once the Mayans calculated this they noticed that their skies wouldn't hold the same astronomical bodies anymore, so they couldn't calculate beyond that date, so, logically, they thought, that must be when time stops, or in other words, the end of the world. You can go out there and try to prove me wrong, but remember that your source will probably be a pro-rapture person and people who get caught up in their opinion often make the mistake of distorting information.

I hate to be such an optimist, but I do not believe the world is going to end in 2012. I don't know why people want the world to end so badly, but they really like that idea. Sorry to burst your bubble...

Super-Volcano Theory = Seismograph. Tectonic-Plate Map.

And about America destroying the world...okay, it's fine if you hate us, but try not to offend us, because, you know, sometimes you shouldn't judge an entire nation on things you yourself haven't even encountered. Come to America, meet people, talk to people, then you can come back and say things like "America will destroy the world", but try to be a little more considerate towards other people. Thanks.

Sorry to be so 'mean' about it, but I'm really getting sick of people hating America so much.
