I don't get it. I know that America has an idiotic president who decided to go to war for no apparent reason, but why do people have to hate Americans? What did we ever do? We didn't get to vote on whether to go to war or not. We didn't get to choose much after we (not me) chose our president. We didn't get to choose what moronic decisions he'd make thereafter. I assure you, all the things you hate us for, we have no control over, or the reasons themselves are without basis or just plain old stupid and untrue. Tell me: If you succeed in hating us (which you are doing, so give yourself a pat on the back), what will come out of it? If you don't swallow your pride, why do we have to? It's funny how you can hate us for being "ignorant, fat, stupid Americans" but yet, we never sit around talking about you and all your faults. If you guys hate us so much, give back everything we gave to you, starting with electricity and something to talk about.
Whatever it is that I have done as an American to make you hate me, I assure you that I am sincerely sorry. _________________ ~Shaye

Don't be sorry Shaye! It's not like we deserve to be hated for who we are never be sorry for the fact everyone hates us Americans for reasons that make no sense. My brother said to me the other day "If they hate America soooooo bad then why are they dieing on our borders to get in?" It's ridiculous how mad other countries and people are at us, our country is the most free of any other yet it's us who are the bad guys. Bush has made some bad decisions I admit even as a supporter I know he has flaws and is giving Republicans and America a bad name. We shouldn't be judged by the decisions one person made we should be judged as a whole we are united hence the meaning of USA.
I'll never ask forgiveness or be sorry for any reasons other countries hate us it would only be a waste of time like trying to pour raindrops back into a cloud. _________________

The majority of Americans are not hated, just the gun-nuts, druggies and people like Bush.
Oh yes, we do find it amusing the stereotypical views such as 'a Starbucks on every corner' sort of things...

I'm not American and it's not like America is the only place with gun-nuts, druggies and dumbasses like Bush. I have nothing against Americans even though i know alot of them take the piss out of us Brits.
Which is fair enough, i mean it's all for a laugh. But just t' let you know we don't actually speak that posh and not all of us drink tea
I, for one, don't like tea, or fish & chips much.
I truly think Bush is a jerk and has made some dumbass decisions but we have people like that allover the world, and americans shouldn't be blamed for one mans stupidity. Don't worry guys I don't hate you _________________ Spider, Spider, on the wall.

That's 'president' hun
I personally would never choose to live anywhere but America.....
Why would you want to move to Britian for Nona?
Yeah you know the gun-nuts that were discussed early *raises hand* I happen to be one of them to tell the truth. Without guns I'd never feel safe being alone, even if guns were outlawed like sooooooo many people want them to be it's not going to stop people from getting them anyway. You want to take my gun you'll have to pry it from my cold dead fingers.
I so want to go to Sportsmans Warehouse now and look at guns! _________________

Oh Oh! I heard this awesome quote, it goes like this:
"They say guns don't kill people, people kill people...well, I think guns help, I mean, if you stood there and yelled "BANG" I don't think you'd kill very many people."
AND I LAUGHED oh so hard. _________________ ~Shaye

well, part of the fun of being and aussie, and just a typical thing of aussie guy...
Someone gave me a good example of this the other day... It went something like this...
"If there's someone from Queensland here, all the New South Wales people make fun of them, and tell Queensland jokes, if there is someone from Tasmania, all the other the other aussie tell jokes about them. If there is someone from New Zealand, all the aussies, including the Tasmanians tell jokes about them. And if there is someone from England, then we are all ANZACs, If there is someone from America, then the English are with us against them, and we are all Southern Cross People, and if any other countries come in, then we still make fun of the Americans."
LMWO, and thats just because of all those people mentioned above, the gun freaks, and the "bush" like people...
I have nothing against the people who are on here, and i have tons of american friends... but its an aussie thing... we make people feel at home by making fun of them...
Aren't we wonderful!?!? _________________

when my sister went to melbourne they didn't tell "jokes" about america. They just said things like "All Americans are fat" and here's my sister, who suffered from anorexia for 2 years, and people decide to call her fat. My cousins knew that too, and they just let it happen. They called us ignorant too (as always, we're ignorant because we're american, but yet when aussies say things like "all americans are fat" then that's not ignorant, that's correct...which it isn't. Eating disorders are highest in the US. Men make up 80% of the obesity factor, but yet, my sister had EVERYTHING to do with it...because she's american) You know what my sister did when she came home? She took her Australia sweatshirt off and gave it to me and said "Do whatever you want, but never go to australia, because the best thing there was this sweatshirt", and she cried. She cried for like two days because not even her cousins were nice to her, excluding my uncle who was born in america.
I'm never going to australia. I don't think you guys wanted her to "feel at home" I think you wanted her to go back home.
But then again, what do I know? I'm just a stupid, ignorant, fat american, right? _________________ ~Shaye

That right there, Shaye, is the reason i live in Sydney and not Melbourne!
(and i don't mean by this that all people in Sydney are great and all people in Melbourne are terrible or anything!)
Yeah, some of the people in Sydney are absolute Jerks, but most of them are pretty ok!
And if you meet the right people, you meet lots of other nice people, but if you meet jerks, they often hang out with jerks!
I personally try to be my nicest to anyone and everyone, i don't like there being the possibility i might have made people feel bad, i like to make everyone feel good about themselves!
Now, for an example, you have people like Slevin, on veritaserum chat, and he is an ass for the sake of it... he lives about 10 minutes away from me...
So basically, every country has its snobs, its jerks, and the nice people.
And my friends do tell jokes, but to have fun, not to make people feel bad...
Ages ago they used to call me "Chef" cause my name sounds like it, and they had this joke that all women belong in the kitchen, and i know it was in the name of fun... it got too much at times, but they would not tell someone that they were fat for the sake of it... You have to find the right people and ignore the jerks...
But i think that is just a rule in general for this world...
Shaye, please give your sister a hug for me, and tell her i am sorry for the way some of my fellow aussies acted!
Just like when some guys behave badly, they make other guys feel embarrassed that they are guys, this makes me feel embarrassed that these people are around, and that they should treat people like that, and that they call themselves Australian.
And i hope that i never give any of you the impression that i am like that! _________________

No matter where you go or who you are you're going to know lovely people and horrible people. Being a certain race doesn't make you superiour or above any one else and vice versa. You get jerks everywhere.
Shaye I feel bad for your sister and when I was 11 I went through a 18 month phase of anorexia. It's not great, even when people call you fat for a joke. It hits harder when it's from family and friends.
But you've got to remember, you can't say that all people in Melborne are jerks either, because that's exactly the same way they're looking at Americans being fat. You shouldn't let a few horrible people's wrong-doings give you a whole over-all opinion of Australia, look at our lovely Figgy for instance _________________ Spider, Spider, on the wall.

awww, you're making me blush butterflii!
And you have wightblack, and My_wolfbrother, and Penguin, and jenv, and...i dont know, a few others on the site... who live in aus... and maybe one day ArcT aswell...
Its like the whole thing, when people say all muslims are terrorists... that drives me mental... they arent, and they shouldn't be judged that way... Each person is unique and special in their own right! No-one should be categorized or made fun of because of where they were born, or even the views of their own families... _________________

I never said that everyone in australia is mean, and if I implied it, I didn't mean to. I just meant to say that I won't go there, and If I do, I will not go to melbourne because...because yeah. _________________ ~Shaye

Don't worry, I didn't exactly get a warm welcome in Melbourne either...
Brisbane on the other hand is fantastic, we were really made at home here...
(I mean, heck, the guy who organised our mortgage sends my Dad birthday cards... )
But yeah, I think your sister may have just been unlucky in going to Melbourne, anywhere else and it would have been all good. _________________ It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.
