Well, we all love a good movie, and i find that the ones that i really enjoy will inspire me to write...

When i was younger, the would mostly inspire my friend and i to write an RP... Nowdays i find that they generally inspire poems and short stories, or sometimes they provide framework for a theme or tidbit in a story...

Some movies that i have been inspired by are:

Pirates of the Caribbean
Ghost Rider
Lord of the Rings
The Notebook

As well as lots of bits and pieces from many others...

What are some movies that have inspired you?

Lord of the Rings is most definately a movie that has inspired me, it is the greatest one there is in my opinion, and has helped me out when I am in need of inspiration or just a bit of a lift.

I find that only great films inspire great things, but the only problem is whenever i get a brainstorm from watching a film i usually find that my "great idea" turns out to be too similar to the one that i watched and i feel a bit like i stole the idea :S
I watched The Lord of the Rings and suddenly i sprang into this great story about witches, wizards, trolls, hobbits etc. but i didn't know if Hobbits had been created by Tolkein so i stopped, see im a bit of a theif when it comes 2 stuff like that Embarassed

Just because hobbits were created by him, doesnt mean that no-one else can ever write about them!

I mean think about it... someone, at some stage, was the first person to write about dragons and unicorns and dwarves... what is everyone else thought that they could not write any of those things because it was copying?!

Well we would have a whole lot more mythical and fantastical creatures... but it would be really hard to keep track of them as there would be so many variations of the same kind of things...

You could just have a different human-like small creature that you create and still have the rest of of the story as is?

I've always loved The Lion King. Once my friend and I stayed up all night watching that in the back of my El Camino. xD

Actually, at one point, unicorns and dragons were once believed to be real animals, that walked the earth and lived like we did, but at some piont died out, so we write about them because they've been passed down in folklore for hundreds of years.

Hobbits, I believe, are Tolkien's creation. I dunno, check the wikipedia.

I'm pretty sure Tolkien has got rights over hobbits, but even if he didn't, I wouldn't use that word. Just about any fantasy that involves the word "hobbit" as a main character is going to be associated to LOTR. But the words halflings and dwarfs are still open, or short people, or midgets. So there are ways around using a short hobbit-like character.

I do get inspired by alot of movies, but like butterflii said, I usually just come up with ideas too similar to the movie. But they can still get me in that "inspirational" mood.

Black Hawk Down
Last Samurai
Revenge of the Sith
Any Lotr Movie
Troy
300
And Taladega Nights, cuz its hilarious and puts me in a good mood. Family Guy does the same thing

Yeah Family Guy rocks.

300 and The Last Samuri are proper gooooddd.

Well, i suppose the Titanic must've inspired me a bit because I did my 'Cryptic Poem' on it Very Happy

Well it varies, at the current moment movies like Casablanca, The Mask, the Maltese Falcon, anything with a more jazz era focus, especially in combination with a toothpick is inspiring for me. But then again I am writing a jazz age based noir...

Oh, I love film noir.

Talledega Nights and Family Guy are awesome...I went to see Talledega Nights at the theater at like, some burnt out circus tent, but anyway...I don't see Family Guy that often but it's funny.

"Chris has a crush on his teacher!"
"Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah. Woah. Lois, this is not my Batman glass."
"Peter, Chris has got a serious problem here!"

*From the same episode as Hawkin's*

Mrs. Lockheart: How's your porridge, hon?
Mr. Lockheart: You know what? It tastes kind of different today.
*Camera zooms out and there's a bear with its paw in his bowl*
Mr Lockheart: OMG THERE'S A BEAR IN MY PORRIDGE!!!!!

I remember when I went to see Taladega Nights in theater, it was probably one of the most awkward experiences of my life.

*gathers figments around for story-telling time*

It was the opening friday night for Taladega, and me and my friend Elliott had been talking about the movie for like a month and had to see it. So i invited one of my girlfriends Rachel to come along with us. We got there really early and bought our tickets, because we knew they would be sold out later, and then just started cruising around. Rachel's a party girl, and is easy to have fun with. So 10:00 rolls around and we head over to the theater, pick up our tickets, and head inside. And guess who we see? Our freshman English teacher there with her date. So we strike up a conversation and ask her hows she's doing. And then it happened.

Akward moment numba 1: (first you've got to understand that my ninth grade english teacher, who's name I'll leave out, was a very emotional woman. It was not past her to sit on the ground in the middle of class and start crying out of stress. At the time when we had her, she had been dating this guy for 3 years, and would talk about him frequently. Well every Valentine's day she would get really anxious because she thought he was going to finally propose to her. But of course, he wouldn't, and then she'd be upset for the next 2 weeks.) So my friend Elliott says quite possibly the dumbest thing ever,"So is this your husband?" (I guess it was her fault for not introducing him right away, and I have to admit, by this time I had even figured the two were married, but it was still not a nice thing to say.) Well, she got a really pinched look on her face, and said,"Nope, he still hasn't gotten around to it yet," and then stormed out of the theater. He ran after her, but not before giving Elliott the scariest look in the world.

So, after giving Elliott a hard time for his comment, the three of us go to get our tickets ripped. By this this time we were about 15 minutes late for the movie, but we figured we hadn't missed anything important. Well I guess we had all forgotten that it was opening night, because when we entered the theater room, it was packed. We just stood there, like idiots, trying to find a trio of seats. But there weren't any, so Elliott had to sit in the top corner of the room, while me and Rachel sat in the front two, side row seats.(Yea, I'm talking about the two worst seats in a theater) So we start watching the movie and everything's fine, except for....duh, duh, duh.

Akward moment numba 2: Rachel would stare at me after anything that was even remotley funny, and start cracking up. Half the time nobody else in the theater was laughing, but Rachel is crazy sometimes so it was normal for her. I didn't want her to look like a dumbass, so I started doing my best to laugh along with her. Sometimes I had to fake it, but thinking back, it was a pretty funny experience.

So the movie gets over, we leave, take Rachel home, blah blah blah, everything was pretty normal. It wasn't until after a couple days that I talked to her again, and of course there was drama.

Akward moment numba 3: She was crying and really upset, so I asked her what was going on. "It's my bodyfriend," was all she said. I'm thinking, well i should have guessed that. Her boyfriend is a grade A douchebag. He doesn't trust her, he's mean to her alot, and on more then one occassion I've had to comfort her after he made her cry. So i'm just like, "what did he do now?" and what she said next was one of the weirdest things I've heard in my life. "He got really mad at me for hanging out with you guys on friday. He said that one of his friend's saw us at this party, and we had all gotten really drunk. And that the three of us went back to your place and had an orgy." Shocked Shocked
Needless to say I was pretty shocked. It was the dumbest thing I had ever heard in my life.

So, her boyfriend didn't want her to hang out with me ever again, because he said he couldn't trust her. That was almost a year ago, and I haven't done anything with Rachel since. I don't know why she would stay with him even after all of that, but it was her decision. Yay for jealous loser boyfriends. Rolling Eyes

Ew, an orgy?

Did you see Family Guy where they have the gay orgy on the deserted island? And then they eat Joe's legs?

*cough* anywho, I'm the kinda person who'd hunt down her boyfriend and kick him in the--

Figgy: WE GET IT.

Yea that part was hilarious. They were just floating along on the raft, and Peter sitting their munching on Joe's legs.
Joe: OMG PETER YOUR EATING MY LEGS!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!
Peter: What? I didn't think you needed them.
