Just because I'm a heartless rock doesn't mean I can't appreciate origami...back to that 'love of paper' insanity...xD

Okay, seeing as I never got a 'origami for beginners' book, with all those cutesy little easy folds, like fold in half, now fold in half again, ta-da, it's magic, you just shrunk a square...(bleh...) I just got an 'expert' book right off, I can't exactly teach you anything from it, because, DUH, it's hard to explain. Maybe someday I'll get a digital camera and show you how to fold one...

There are lots of sites that could teach you, though, my favorite being dev.origami.com, (although my computer won't let me type it out in the address box, I have to Google search it...) and they sort out the diagrams from easy to complex. How nice...

But if you ever wanted to get a book, I'd suggest starting with The Buck Book. Wait, I don't think you can just get that, I think you can only get it through the school book fair things...that's where I got mine, from Jordan...anyway, if you wanted to just dive right in, you ought to get one by Jeremy Shafer, or Robert Lang. NOTHING BY JOHN MONTROLL! His models are kinda dull anyway, just animals that just sit there, Jeremy Shafer and Robert Lang's models DO stuff.

Well, I tired some . . . and failed. 'Cause I don't know any of the basic folds.
The directions were all, "Now fold the left corner into a basic swivel fol with a water bomb base."

BUT! I did manage to make a Chinese Throwing Star, which rocks.

Very Happy YAY!

Dragons rock! (And that's why you should read A Song of Ice and Fire)

And that's what I love about my town. It'll be hailing at one house and only a five minute walk away it's sunny (actually it was raining pretty hard here, no hail though).

It was hailing at first, and then it was just raining really hard.

I think for this topic we should post links to online instructions for cool models.

http://dev.origami.com/diagram.cfm

This site has a bunch of different models and the instructions seem ok. Let me know how they work out.

ADDITION: http://www.britishorigami.info/academic/glossary.php

This page is an origamis glossary, currently defining over 100 terms. Hope it helps! Very Happy

Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper. Is that it, Shaye?

And I was going to show you how to fold Jeremy Shafer's dragon, but I'm too lazy to explain to you rabbit ears and square bases and sinks...

YOU TRIED A SWIVEL FOLD?! WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU SWIVEL'S ARE SO HARD! But waterbomb bases are easy, you just fold in half so you have a triangle, then reverse fold the two sides in to make a big triangle.

TOLD YOU I'M A TERRIBLE TEACHER!

I tried an azalea yesterday, but I got to this one step and I couldn't make it look like the next one. It sucked. Mad

I hate it when you have a book of Origami, and it's all in Japanese... And so you have to look at one picture, and then the next... It's REALLY ANNOYING to figure out!
