Oh my, this was the best book ever.

It was the perfect finish to the series, and action packed and full of answers, suprises and un-wanted losses =[

That suprise about Snape being good, that was a shocker!

When he killed dumbledore in number 6 I was a little shocked but I thought 'Hey, I knew Snape was a bad one, we never trusted him.' AND THEN we go and find out about everything else, phwoar that was unexpected.

Dobby's death really hit home, I couldn't believe it. I was more upset by his death than by anyone elses I think, he's so sweet and he died saving Harry. I also felt a surge of affection towards the house-elfs and Kreacher warmed on me sooo much, making them that steak and kidney pie.

When Tonks and Lupin have the baby Ted, that's just adorable. He's just Harry all over again, as his parents die when he's so young Sad

Of course, Hedwigs death cannot go amissed, I was shell-shocked to say the very least when I read that part.

Mad-Eye, for some un-explainable reason, didn't have such a huge affect on me when he passed but I was sorry to see him go all the same.

I loved the humour of the twins when George get's his ear blown off, trust them to be so cool about it. I couldn't believe how George must've felt when Fred had died. All those people dying around them, and your clone dies right beside you, that's awful =[

Off the subject of death, I think JK planned the books amazingly well. It answered all the questions perfectly. The Hallows were an amazing touch, and I love the chapter Kings Cross where Harry's talking to Dumbledore about it all.

The battle was pretty awesome, really action-packed and thrilling, I love how Mrs Weasley steps in to duel with Beatrix after she tried hurting Ginny.

Well, that's enough for now!

I LOVE THE ENDING! It's adorable.

Harry marries Ginny, which I'm so glad happened, and then the three children they have, they name James (after Harry's father obviously), Lily (after his mother) and Albus Severus (after Dumbledore and Snape), That is just the sweetest thing, I love how it all pieced together and worked out all right. Then Ron and Hermione get together to have Rose and Hugo. Who's names are they? Are they Hermione's parents or something?

I can't remember, although the names ring a bell!

I thought they would have named a kid george or something, but as me and Figgy were discussing, perhaps one of the childrens middle names is Fred, another's Nymphadora, and another Remus, perhaps a Sirius or molly, arthur etc.

Ahh well, it all worked out lovely, and I REALLY am going to stop now, i promise. Very Happy

I loved it when Dudders said that he didn't think Harry was a waste of space, and he wanted them to go with him... that was so SWEET!

I cried like a BABY when Dobby died... and i kept crying... Like when Harry was digging the grave by hand, and then when they put the socks and shoes, and the beanie on him... And then later, when Griphook was saying that Harry was unusual for digging the grave by hand and showing them respect and stuff...

So yeah, i didn't really cry for any of the other character's deaths... I almost did for Hedwig...

I would have liked to see more of Luna, Neville, Ginny, and Draco...

And then when Harry was going to his death, and thinking about his friends and his life, and all of that... And when he got the stone and his Mum and Dad, and Sirius and Lupin were there... I cried even more then!

I was thinking that Lily's middle name is Nymphadora, and then James might have the middle names Remus and Fred...

The Epilogue just made me laugh... which was good after all the crying...

Best book of the series, i want to read it again!

It feels so weird though... I have been in this world of... You know... Read a book, wait another year or two for the next one, and then read again, and then wait again... For 7 YEARS now... and it's over...

And that just feels totally strange...

To explain how much I love this book there is only one word: BONZAAAAAA!!!!

All the deaths really cut me, except Moody, but I never really connected with the real movie. It took me about 10 minutes to get myself under control after Dobby died I just couldn't stop crying and for the next 2 days after I finished every time someone would mention Dobby I'd start balling. Fred's death hit hard too, I was so sad because he'd just started a friendly relationship with Percy and then he died. I keep telling myself that at least he died laughing but I'm still distraught.

After I found out about Snape I was not so much shocked that he was good on the deep inside but that he was in love with Lily! No wonder he was so mean to Harry, he was the proof that Lily had turned Snape down. Quite frankly by the end of the book I saw James Potter as a bit or a lot of a prat. Severus and Lily forever! I didn't think there was a good enough explanation of why Lily ended up with James. Imagine Harry Severus Snape! lol

Not a big fan of the last sentence in the epilogue "All was well.". Ah well not everything can be perfect.

No I didn't think James was a prat, I think he was just one of those guys who is really great to be around and everything but acts like a jerk to impress people. So many guys are like that anyway.

Plus, everyone always says how much James was like Harry, and since we know Harry to be loyal, fun, adventurous, clever and exciting, then we can quess that James would have been similar.

But I know what you mean. I think Snape was a bit mean to Harry so that, he wouldn't give anything away to Voldemort that he and Harry had a good student-teacher relationship and he saw james through harry and remembers how james took lily away from him.

God, I wish the books were still going on.

I'd agree that James is loyal to his friends but he's a git to everyone else and unlike Harry he's the provoker rather than the provoked. They say how much Harry is like his father, but apart their looks and their lack of respect for the rules they don't really mention how they are alike. Except for the time when James is trying to save Lily and Harry you never see him being a nice person. You never find out why Lily likes him because it goes from "I hate him" to "I'm married to him"

True, true.

I don't know why, but I find it hard to build up a hate for him.

It really isn't for me, I guess I just never really knew him so it's not very hard to pass judgment on him.

This book was trully awesome. Me being the emotionless guy that I am, I did not cry (haven't done so for nearly 3 years now), but that isn't to say the emotion did not hit me. I was devastated by Dobby and Hedwig's deaths, and Fred's death came as an unexpected and terrible surprise (right when he and Percy had gotten all matey again too Sad )
But Snape being good, I was never convinced by his evilness, but I do have to say, if he were born a muggle, he would be an Oscar winner, a great performance by him, hoodwinked even Voldemort. Well done to you Severus.

JKR I think can claim the Best Fantasy Author title, which has been held by Tolkein by all these long years.

The biggest negative about the book though is that it is the last one. I can only hope that JKR decides to carry on writing.

I hope she keeps writing, but not Harry Potter... As much as it pain me to say this...

I would just hate for the series to turn into something like Neighbours, Home and Away, or Bold and the Beautiful... There simply for the sake of being there...

But she said that she is writing one children's book, and one not so children's book... And that one of those will inevitably take over...

But how weird must it be for HER!

She's had constant pressure on her to write this series for YEARS... Far longer than i have been waiting for the next book and all of that... And now it's "finished"... *shudder* I don't know if i'm excited about those days or not...

You wouldn't know what to do with yourself...

Personally I feel happy for JK Rowling. I mean seriously writing the same old characters in the same old plot in the same old locations for at least seven years? I would imagine that after it was over I would be leaping for joy that I could finally write something else.

:O crazy bean.

I agree Fig, if she kept writing Harry Potter then it wouldn't be right, it would just be a continuos pointless series, like soap operas.

I'm so upset to see the HP books go, but happy they stopped where they did.

I imagine that starting another story would be totally mind blowing.

Almost everything she's written in the last over a decade, has been to do with Harry.

She'd have to make a totally new story, making new characters. And if she were to do a fantasy, she couldn't take any ideas from HP, so it would be really hard. =[

Because if she wrote a new story, that included, say a werewolf. Then we'd all be remeinded of Lupin, or an old, powerful wizard, might remind us of dumbledore.
Anyone ginger would remind us of a Weasley.

And everything she writes will be held up and compared to the HP books.

But despite all that, i hope she writes Very Happy

I was soooooo sad when Tonks and Lupin both died!!! And Tonks' dad died, so all Teddy had left was his grandmother and his godfather!

It kinda bugged me that we didn't see Kreacher till the end after they left the ministry, since he had changed so drastically.

I thought it was pretty good overall.

Uh...it's Bellatrix...not Beatrix...FYI...

I TOLD you about the locket thing! I WAS SO RIGHT! And Mae was figuring, "ah, yes, I'll bet Snape and Dumbledore were in cahoots, Dumbledore was not begging for MERCY, but for DEATH...and that it was all planned..." HA! MAE WAS RIGHT! AND I'M HER FLESH AND BLOOD, SO THAT COUNTS FOR ME! CHALK ANOTHER ONE UP FOR HAWKINS!

I keep writing my name 'Hawkisn' lately, driving me nuts...

WHY DID FRED DIE?! IT'S NOT FAIR IT'S NOT FAIR! And that was so un-Fred-like. THE REAL FRED WEASLEY WOULD COME BACK AS A FRICKIN' GHOST!

When she described Dobby dying, I was like, "that poor little Dobby! Why?!"

Mad-Eye was my favorite character, but the deadbeat way they put it (Bill just goes up to Arthur and says, "Mad-Eye's dead.") kinda was like, "oh, okay, he's dead. No big deal." Maybe if they'd recovered the body it'd be something. We also hadn't seen him at all in HBP, (Humongous Bighead...PERCY!) so it was just a kinda, "oh, that's right, the dude with the funny eyeball that goes WHEEE!"

Overall, it was good, though halfway through, I was thinking to myself, "geez, bit sadistic, don't you think?" but then I think, "DUH, Voldemort isn't just going to kill two people and leave it at that...THIS IS OPEN WARFARE!" The last line...hated it. The epilogue(sp?): kinda lukewarm, compared to the rest of the book, and I was REALLY looking forward to that... Harry lives: WHAT?! That's not right, mostly 'cause HE'S DEAD...if Harry could do that, why not Sirius? I WANT SIRIUS BACK! AND FRED AND LUPIN AND TONKS!

And JKR says she's kinda been worn out of Harry Potter for a bit now, people constantly chasing her and demanding the ending of the series, asking what happens next, is Harry gonna die...and besides, she doesn't have to keep writing, she's set for life. Though it could be a "I want to keep writing" thing, not a "I need to keep writing"...

Though I can only imagine if, say...I had been working on something for almost a decade, then suddenly...BAM it's over and I need a new idea...I'd feel a little drained out, honestly, like, "what's the use of starting a story? I've got this one good one here, and the ending is a bit depressing, mostly 'cause it's the ending...do I have to?" then I'd go into a deep blue funk and probably never recover, and they'd find me about forty years later all chunky and moldy 'cause nobody knows where I live. And after a while I'd start to stink. xD

*sniff* I remind myself of Fred...*quickly builds a FRED WEASLY, ALASTOR "MAD-EYE" MOODY AND DOBBY THE HOUSE-ELF MEMORIAL WELL* All proceeds will go to the Death Reversal Squad, who is working around the clock to reverse time, space and even death itself.

*story idea latches itself into brain* That sounds like fun...

It was a good book but i thought there were alot of problems.

She got carried away early in the 7th book and it cost her later on. She had too much fluff about camping out and hiding. They spent half the book trying to get the locket and then figure out how to destroy it, and the other two horcruxes get destroyed in like a 40 page segment. And again, the Diadem was destroyed in the passing. I thought it was really cheesy how Hermione was like "Oh yeah.. OMG that spell works too! No wayyy." I know she said it was dark magic, but it seemed more like a scapegoat for JKR. I mean if that idiot Crabbe could do magic to kill a horcrux, then surely there could have been something Hermione would have thought of. Who cares if its evil? The horcrux is a hell of alot more evil. And then you have Lupin and Tonk's deaths which was basically just thrown in there. No recap or anything, just "Harry saw them dead on the floor". I thought it was pretty unfitting for Lupin, since he was a main character throughout the later half of the series. And i felt pretty ripped off with the whole,"harry's got to die scene." I mean, we went through all of that and he DIDN'T die. It was obvious that JKR wanted to write a really sad scene with harry going willingly to his death, that would be rememberable by everyone. But the only problem is, she didn't want any of the reprecussions from having a scene like this, which is SUPPOSED to mean that your main character dies. I felt like she made Harry a horcrux, just so she wouldn't have to kill him off. And then we had to have Dumbledore spend a whole chapter explaining WTF had just happened. I think she tried to make it alot more dramatic and epic then it really was, but she didn't explain it that well. All she had to say was, Harry your the master of the hallows/elder wand, so Voldy just killed the horcrux in you.

I know I'm being harsh, but I just didn't like how she wrote the last book. It just seems like she would basically write her main characters into really deep trouble, i.e harry and Co. getting taken to the Malfoy manor, and then she would have something miraculous and unrealistic happen, i.e dobby came out of no where and saved them. Well what was dobby doing with aberforth in the first place? Maybe that's just how she wanted the HP books to be, like Harry was really lucky and there's always hope for any situation blah blah blah.

I think JKR has a ways to go before you can compare her to Tolkein, but hey, we all have our opinions.

She is writing one more book for Harry Potter, and it's the HP encyclopedia. Basically it's just going to be info about all the characters, places, concepts. But after that I doubt she'll ever write a book again. I mean she is the first author to ever make a billion off of her books, so it's not like she needs the money. And she hasn't seemed enthusiastic about her series for a while, seems like she's just wrote the rest of the HP books because of the demand from her readers.

[/End rant]

^read that sometime. It's basically the entire 7th book condensed into like a couple of pages. It's pretty funny at times, it pokes fun at alot of JKR's plot holes. But there is some vulgar language, so don't click the link if that stuff bothers you.
